Kathy & Kathy
“Fusing the sensibilities of the present with the sentimental past while lending a nostalgic touch to modern designs with the inspired use of handmade traditional techniques for jewelry pieces that promote Filipino tradition, craft, and culture.”
Kathy and Kathy Bespoke was born in 2014 under the helm of Kathy Sarabia-Babst and Kathy Gregorio-Añover. As proud Ilonggas who have deep roots in their hometown of Iloilo, the motivation to create a custom jewelry line is highly influenced by the desire to promote the highlights of their home province as well as Filipino traditions, while incorporating it with the client’s personal taste and preference for keepsake jewelry.
“Growing up in a small town with a tight knit group of family and friends, there has always been an emphasis on sentimental values and an emotional attachment to things that has been passed on from family generations. We would like to bring back how people choose the pieces of jewelry to purchase. In the past, people are guided by a sentimental feeling more than just thinking about its value”
We aim to disseminate a better understanding of the processes involved and the importance of shared value with our craftsmen so that their stories are preserved in the pieces they create. Custom jewelry is a step further in practicing better service with handmade craftsmanship. Purchasing jewelry with a substantial value should provide a more personal and intrinsic quality that educates the customer on the craftsmanship, the hours, the skill and the people involved in the process. We are proud to say that each piece of Kathy and Kathy Bespoke is in support of Filipino talent and artistry. Designs that are still handcrafted by local artisans with skill and patience. Apart from the striking aesthetic that is evident in the smallest details, we take pride in the fact that there are no shortcuts or mass production in our workshop.
QUALITY OVER QUANTITY
The brand has dedicated itself to creating only a limited number of designs but with the utmost attention to craftsmanship and detail. Handcrafted keepsake and heritage inspired jewelry using traditional techniques passed down from generations of skilled Filipino goldsmiths. Recognizing that handmade craftsmanship such as Filigree, metal carving, and granulation, is a dying art form that is only sustained by years of practice and memory by a handful of artisans, our brand focuses on re-introducing these techniques through designs that are relevant in todays lifestyle. In order to sustain the craft and the skill, it’s story has to be shared not just in the confines of museums and private collections, but in the consciousness of individuals who can re-discover an interest in these techniques. Kathy and Kathy Bespoke offers a glimpse of these design possibilities that help bring different Filipino narratives to life.
